Hard Starting

Sometimes I have trouble starting my car engine. I was told that the IAC motor and intake manifold are very dirty with carbon causing lack of power.

I was suggested to put in a new IAC motor.

However, when I step on the speed pedal and accelerate the engine for a few seconds. The car appears to be fine and running. Does it should like I need a new IAC motor?

The idle air control valve could be causing the hard starting only if the engine starts and then stalls. If it doesn't want to start then this would not be an IAC motor.
