My Sequoia has had problems with the VSC, TRAC, ABS lights coming on. Now the brake light is on as well. Just had brakes serviced. Had the float in brake fluid res. checked. The brakes work fine. BUT Toyota wants $4000 to change out the Skid Controller and then possible the ECU. Can't pass state inspection with the Brake light on EVEN though the brakes have been inspected and are fine. Has to be a simpler (cheaper) solution than that.

Hi
System very complex and difficult to diagnose. Did tey provide you with DTC codes? what test proceedures where used to determine need to replace SKID?
SKID controler is $650 the actuator is $3770. Is there another dealer you could go to for secon opinion?

Hi jrhoofnagle, Thank you for the donation. Let us start by checking for trouble codes. Locate the DLC3 underdash. Bridge terminals Tc and CG with a wire or paper clip. Turn ignition switch ON. Read the DTC from the ABS warning light and VSC TRAC warning light on the combination meter. Let me know what they are.

For the brake lights turning on, unplug the brake pedal switch and check if they turn off. If yes, either the brake switch is bad or the rubber stopper has disintegrated causing it to remain on all the time.
