I replaced the battery and the first time I drove the car it idled fine for about 10 minutes then the car just conked out. It turned right back on then the idle just dropped to 0 and the car turned off.

Will a bad alternator keep the car from running after it is started.

The battery is completely dead now

Hi there,

Check the alternator charge rate and check for any current draw with the ignition off, this is a simple test for your mechanic to do.
