2002 Toyota Rav4 Diagnostic Code Light

I received a light on the dashboard indicating a lean fuel mixture.

While checking the engine I noticed a hissing sound from the I think the egr sensor. One 1/4 inch vacummn hose on the bottom one 1/4 inch vacumn hose on the side and two 1/8 vacummn hoses on the sensor.

I taped the valve tight with electrical tape. Could this be the source of the problem???

yes mostlikely it was, sounds like you had a vacuum leak which will cause a lean mixture check engine light , excellent observation, I would just get it done properly when I had the chance, scan it again and clear the code, awesome
