Toyota..right timing chain

I have a 1990 Toyota 4 wd pickup that had a 22re head. I cracked the head. I put a 1984 22r head back on. What do I use for a chain? The 1990 chain is too short and the 84 is to long. How do I get this head to work with my motor? I really don't want to go back to the 22re with FI. Thanks for any help.

A 22R is designed for a Carb-22RE is the EFI

Maybe check the cam and crank sprockets for comparison and to include the tensioner and dampers.

This is for anybody else that might need this infor.

That setup isn't going to work dear fellow. Pre-85 and post 85 heads and blocks do not mix, due to the deck height differences.

20/22R history

Hence, there's a 3-link difference in between the two timing chains for them.

Ya need a post-85 head. Use the one for the '84 as a core return.
