Hey guys, I would like to know the proper way to remove the hub assembly in order to replace my rotors on my 1994 toyota 4 x 4.

On Free wheeling hubs, put handle in free position, remove the nuts around the hub, use a hammer to tap the edge of the hub, this will pop out the cone shaped washers. Striaghten the locking tabs of the outer washer and remove the lock nut and washer, then remove the second nut and washer, pull bearing out, slide hub and rotor off the spindle. I use two ball peen hammers, put one on the whell studs and hit with the oter hammer until the studs come out, then flip it over, remove the retaining bolts. Put the rotor in a vice, again use the two hammers and hit on the flange are towards the rotor's outside surface to seperate the hub from the rotor...

i replaced my pickup coil rotor cap destributor cap wires ignitor and icant get my plugs 2 fire enought 2start engine fires red

what size engine does this truck have? (i case i need to send you a spark plug wiring diagram)

did you put the new wires in the exact place on the distributor where the old wires came from? (spark plug wires have to be put on the distributor cap in the proper order or the engine may not start)

also, the rotor is designed to fit on its shaft in only one position, recheck the position of the rotor.

my front braking discs are shot and they have been that way for a while. my father and I are trying to remove and replace them but we can't! We've removed the wheel, removed the caliper, removed the locking mechanism for the hub, and now were trying to remove the disc...but we seem to be stuck! We can't figure out how to remove the disc and hub from the truck. We thinkwe know how to remove the hub from the disc, but dont we need to remove the disc with the hub attatched first, then remove the hub? Help me!!!!

1.Remove the brake pads and the caliper
2.Check the disc run-out at this point. Make a note of the results for use during installation.
3.Remove the grease cap from the hub. Remove the cotter pin and the castellated nut.
4.Remove the wheel hub with the brake disc attached.
5.Perform the disc inspection procedure as outlined in this section.


To install:

6.Coat the hub oil seal lip with multipurpose grease and install the disc/hub assembly.
7.Adjust the wheel bearing preload
8.Measure the disc run-out. Check it against the specifications and against the figures noted during removal.


If the wheel bearing nut is improperly tightened, disc run-out will be affected.

9.Install the remainder of the components
10.Bleed the brake system.
11.Road test the truck. Check the wheel bearing preload.

How do I change the rotors on my truck

Hi STICKIESLURES, You can replace just the rotors after disassembling it but make dure you do not contaminate the bearings and top up any lubricants.

The front brakes are drum brakes and I want to convert it to disc brakes, unfortunately there is only rear disc brakes available. Can it still be modified to fit in the front wheel?

No the calipers are smaller than needed for safe stopping.

I'm not sure where you live but front disc brakes have been mandated by law in the US since around 1971. You should be able to buy the correct ones.

how do you replace rotors on 1989 toyota 4x4 pickup?

1. Raise vehicle and remove wheels. Disconnect brake line from caliper (if necessary), remove caliper.
On models with free wheeling hub, set control handle to "free". On all models remove hub cover, bolt/washer and hub body.

2. Use tapered punch to open slits on conical washers. Remove axle shaft snap rings (if equipped). Straighten tabs of outer lock washer. Using spindle socket, remove locknut, lockwasher and adjusting nut.

3. Remove thrust waher and outer bearing. Remove axle hub and rotor. Remove grease seal and inner bearing. Press hub bolts out of axle hub. Remove 2 retaining bolts and seperate rotor from hub.

I have taken the hub lock cover off and undone the bolt but the hub assembly still wont come off tried tapping on it but doesnt seem to want to move any ideas

Spray it with some PB Blaster, it's probably rusted on.

Brakes problem 1990 Toyota Pickup 4 cyl Four Wheel Drive Manual 214K miles Hello. May I know how you remove a front rotor disk on a 4wd? I'm not sure if i need to remove the screw in the middle. I looked at the back of the rotor there's no other screws is holding the disk. Is there a special tool to take it out? Thank you.

1. Remove caliper as described under CALIPER SERVICE. 2. Remove cap and snap ring, Fig. 10, then remove cone washers with tapered punch. 3. Insert suitable length bolts into flange bolt holes, then tighten bolts evenly and remove flanges. 4. Remove free wheel hub cover and snap ring, then remove nut, spring washer and cone washer with suitable tapered punch. 5. Remove free wheel hub body and gasket. 6. Remove locknut, lock washer and adjusting nut. 7. Remove axle hub and brake disc as an assembly. 8. Remove oil seal and inner bearing from hub. 9. Reverse procedure to install. Torque adjusting nut to 43 ft. lbs., then back off nut. Torque nut to 18 ft. lbs. Using spring scale attached to hub bolt, check that preload is 1.4-12.6. Install lockwasher and locknut, if equipped. Torque locknut to 35 ft. lbs., and recheck preload. Secure lockwasher by bending one tab inward and one tab outward. There you go i also emailed you the diagram so you can figure out what part's there talking abou tin the instruction's.
