i have a ticking sound coming from my engine.
It's not in the top part of the engine.
bottom front of engine is quiet. the noise is somewhere toward the bottom rear of engine. it sounds like it's coming from where the transmission bell housing and engine meet. the ticking sound is really loud in the exhaust system by the bell housing.
i think the sound is magnified throught the exhaust.
I have taking it to 3 garages and no answers. oil pressure is good. I pulled spark plug one at a time to see if sound changes but it doesn't. the sound goes away when rpm is around 2000/2500. sometime its loud and sometimes it doesn't make any noise. I don't know if this makes a difference or not but when I remove oil filler cap, on valve cover, the engine rpm will go down quite a bit. Is this suppose to happen?
