1992 Toyota Pickup rapid clicking noise behind right side o

My mechanic says this could be a faulty relay switch. It is going to cost me $200 to replace including all the time he took to figure this out. AND he is still not sure that this is the problem. Does this sound right to you?

Is it the right side of dash? if so several relays located there when it is clicking ID which one. post part number anything to help findout which one. Then will advise some electrical problam maybe causing relay to fall out. Any thing at up when it clicks?

Yes, it's the right side of dash on my '93 Toyota
pickup. unfortunately because of being out of town for the holidays I won't be able to troubleshoot further for a few weeks but will check back in then.

But the thing that does act up when it clicks is the idling----the clicking doesn't occur until almost normally spec'd idle speed (7500 RPM) and then the clicking interferes with the idling, almost making the engine die out sometimes, if I am at a stop. Stuck in awful traffic tonight due to stormy weather, I had to keep revving the engine at stops.

Believe it to be cut out relay possibably due to TPS out of adjustment.

Then TPS is at fault go to throttle find screw give it a slight turn 1/8. If clicking stops good if not need to replace TPS

well the 1/8 turn did stop the COR from clicking,
as well as preventing the engine from cutting out.

So now that makes me wonder....the TPS screw had been set in place back in August at a certain point, after I'd had some major work done (new timing chain, valves, airflow sensor) at a shop. So there must have been some sort of "settling" of the system over time? I first noticed the COR clicking occuring sporadically in like October, then it became more frequent after the engine would warm up after use.

The TPS is a variable resistor and degragation will take place over time

Yes a new one might be best . There is a proceedure to set up . If not in instructions with TPS let me know and will provide . Need OHM meter

Hmmm. Maybe the TPS is further gone than thought. I tried measuring for ANY voltages according to the Toyota manual (shown below), with the ignition switch on, and am not reading any voltage across any of the terminals. ?

Pull term measure from E2 to ground what do you get? Throttle fully open ohm from VTA to E2 3300 to 10000 ohms

from VTA to E2 measures 4650 ohms.

Still don't read voltage as per the Toyota chart.

What did you get from E2 to ground?
Toyoa voltage readings are accurate but are you back probing or removing treminal connector ?

I have the terminal (harness) disconnected
from the TPS.
