I have exhausted every thing i know and can find any where else. I cant get my charging system to work. Positive cable replacement, alternator replacement battery replacement, checked all fuses, links and wiring, tried direct link to battery. tried to check all sensors and/or fuses under hood and in cab. checked starter cable and all connections. checked all grounds cables and wires, Truck will run fine on fully charged battery, Every thing works but suck the system dry quickly and will not recharge at all. Im ready to put a stick of dynamite in the tank and walk away. Except i love my truck and i need it really bad. Please help

Use a voltmeter

Read the battery voltage before you start the vehicle record it- now start vehicle read the voltage again, it should be 13.5-15.5 volts if lower find the regulator grounding tap hole on back of the alternator and stick a small screwdriver in it to ground the voltage regulator when you do this -the voltage should increase to above readings if not you have a defective alternator. If it increases replace the voltage regulator.

Also in the event your are reading the voltage and its way over 15.5volts replace the regulator its not controlling the alternator-this condition will overcharge the battery and ruin it and could explode
