I have a 86 toyota 22R, 4 cylinder engine, 286000 miles. Power steering pump had leaked for over a yr. so I used Lucas stop leak, like mollasses and only had to add every few months. Alot of fluid built up around my alternator so I used a degreaser on alternator and spryed some water around the area to clean off the gunk. directly afterwards, my Charge light and Brake Light has been lit up on my dash and the alternator quit chariging. Had it tested and said it was a bad alternator. Is there a way that this might correct itself after drying the area? The alternator charged fine until I degreased it. Is there possible a fuse that blew for the alternator? Any advice is appreciated,

Check your ignition fuse if its okay-then you need an alternator.
