1992 Toyota Paseo engine wont turn over

i just got the car and knew that the clutch was bad and had to be replaced. the car started and worked with few problems. then one day it wouldnt start, i thought the battery had died, i jumped the car and it worked, but when it died a second time and we tried to jump it, it no longer would. i do know that at one point the jumper cables were commected backwards for 10 seconds max. i bought a new battery and now the lights and horn work but the starter wont kick at all and the engine is silent

what did i do to my car?

hi check the main fuses under the hood.
check the starter with a test light when you turn key to start on the single post on the starter.the light should come on if it does starter is fried. if not fuses or wireing between ignition and starter. good luck billymac
