vacuum leak

if i had my exhaust manifold installed and there is a noise in the air filter. and i have a vacuum leak, where would the leak be, would it be in the manifold or the air filter. also can you damaged anything from running your car with a leak and what can it damage?

Like i said before, have a mechanic do a smoke test and it will quickly tell the origen of the leak.
