bank 1 on left or right

I have a 1996 Lexus LS 400. The dash light says "cam shaft position sensor A circuit malfunction
Bank 1 or single sensor P O 340"
Is bank 1 the left or right side of the engine?

Bank 1 indicates the side of the engine at which the Number 1 Cylinder is located.
