Hi,
im having problems with a toyota starlet, 1992, 170k, 1 litre.
The inlet hose to the water pump burst. I've replaced this hose but the engine is still overheating.
The car has a belt driven centrifugal pump. I disconnected the inlet (top) hose to the radiator and turned over the engine to see if the water pump was actually pumping. No water was pumped out of the hose.
I've no reason to believe there is a problem with the water pump but I suspect that there isnt water getting to the pump in the first place.
Is it possible for the cooling system to be air lock?? If so how could I go about bleeding it. Is suspect this may be the problem.
