Sirs; I am facility manager at our local health clinic. I frequently get asked to jump start vehicles. What is the risk involved in jump starting newer cars. I am worried about liability. I am aware of hooking up positive first, negative to engine block. Sometimes my helpers perform this task. What is your opinion on this? Thanks very much! Rick

Hi there.

There is always a risk of spiking a ECU and doing some damage, If you must do this you can purchase jumper cables with a surge protector built in, this will eliminate any problem with surge and will also protect for an incorrect connection Neg to Pos.
