Computer problem
2001 Toyota Highlander 6 cyl Four Wheel Drive Automatic 200k miles

Dear Sir,
the problem with 2001 Highlander is that, occassionaly when I accelerate it will not take acceleration smoothly. Sometimes its fine and it has started to happen more frequently. I got timing belt, spark plugs, and transmission done thru Toyota dealership. Also some days in the morning when I start it will not start but if I press the accelerator and start then it will. The RPM needle usually stays below 1. The check engine light is on but after a scan by mechanic he was not sure. But suggested one of the oxygen sensor might need replacement but said it can be one, two, or three sensors. The check engine light use to disappear if I added fuel injector cleaner sometimes. But now days its constantly on, if I re-attach the battery the light goes away but then will show up after sometime. I thought it may have to do with the fuel injector being dirty but it didn't work. Its frustating to drive a car when on acceleration it hesitates but if you keep the accelerator down it will eventually speed up, but will still notice the hesitation. I have also noticed during rainy weather it happens more frequently. Any suggestion will be greatly appreciated.

Check engine light on

Have the computer scanned for code/s-you have a problem within the engine management system that caused the CEL to turn on-This is your starting point of diagnosis, finding out what's going on.
