Hi, folks.
I have a 1990 Corolla SR5 coupe, manual transmission, a/c, 1.6L, with just over 200k mi. It has ran phenomenally for the past two years I've had it, but has always made a 'rattling' noise during moderate acceleration (increasing speed on the freeway, going up steep hills, etc.). I usually downshift when it does this and it stops making the noise until it revs up again. Two days ago, it started to sputter when taking off and during acceleration right after changing gears. It acts like it doesn't want to take the gas for the first few moments, then when it does it lunges forward a bit. It's about due for another tune-up and I'm hoping it's just a faulty plug or wire, but want to be prepared when I take it in. Do you have any ideas/suggestions?
