I have a 2003 Toyota Corolla with 40,000 mi and a 4cly engine. My check engine light came on and I had a mechanic look at it, he said he couldn't figure out what was wrong, but the code was reading that the Mass Air Sensor was having problems, I replaced it with a new one then when I tried to start the car it would'nt crank. If I unplug the sensor I can start the car and it will run well up to 3000 rpm. If I have the car running with the sensor unplugged and then plug it in while running the car shuts off. The check engine light has stayed on the whole time. I took it to a toyota dealership and they said it would cost hundreds for them to run the diagnostics to figure out what is wrong. Any thoughts? it seems like an electrical or computer problem? What do you think?
