I got the car June of this year and it was running 39k miles upon purchase. Remembered to check both heaters and a/c if functioning before sealing the deal. Now that it's starting to get cooler, I had to use the heater this morning and found out that very little or almost no air was coming out of the middle vents if the controls were turned to "heat" but they were fine with the a/c. Help, is this a problem that I could do by myself?

I'm not sure what you mean here. Heat is not supposed to come out of the dash vents. It is automatically directed to the floor or the windshield.

isn't it supposed to work both ways? that cool air comes out when the a/c is on and when the dial is turned to the heater setting then warm air comes out of all the vents including the dash vents?

Whenever the mode selection is set to heat, the air is directed to the floor. The only way to get hot air from the vents is to leave it set on A/C and simply turn the temp higher.
