2002 Toyota Corolla starter wont engage sometimes

my 2002 corolla will start sometimes and othere times it wont even crank.Key and lock cylinder are worn pretty bad could it be a problem with the security system

If, during one of these events, you turn key to start and nothing happens (no click, nothing), then could be bad connection to starter, starter, ign. switch, or neutral safety switch on trans.

Begin by removing starter, take to any autoparts store and have it bench tested for free.
