recently my toyota is having declining gas miliage and alot less pick up as it used to have. So I took it to my local toyota for a tune up, they called and said that the mass air flow sensor that is on my corolla is the wrong one, it's meant for a six cylinder camry? Is it possible that my corolla has the wrong mass air flow sensor on it?
Also, the mechanic recommends a flush of the throttle system. He claims the ethanol gas is (all of sudden) causing the lower gas miliage and less pick up. Does this make sense?

Have you had anything done the vehicle recently? Any kind of tune-up done to the car? I guess if the MAF is bad then you should get the right one. The intake might be filled with carbon and if it is plugged up enough it would cause a decrease on gas mileage and low power, but I don't know if I would blame it on the gas. Also I really never saw that on Toyota's too much. I would flush the fuel injectors(not the crap you put in the gas tank) and do a tune-up and get the proper MAF. HTH.
