2001 Toyota Corolla Driver side power window

The drivers side power window will lower with no problem. But when I press the switch to raise the window it only moves a short distance (less than an inch) By driving for a while and then pressing the switch it will again ries a little. I can continue to do this until the window has been closed.

I have a small toolkit for home use. Can I be able to open the door and try to fix it. How? Please help.

The problem sounds like a bad widow motor which would need to be replaced. You may have all the tools you need to do this, but it can be a tricky job. You need to remove the door panel. there will be several mounting screws that are usually philips head and well hidden. The panel will be a little looser, but it will also have plastic tabs that you can seperate by pulling the panel out. Once the tabs are pulled out you will need to lift the panel an inch or two to release it from the door. There will be an elecrtical connector you can unhook by hand going to the window switches. With the door panel off there will be a layer of insulation on the door. pull the isulation away from the door in areas with holes so you can see into the door. The motor is mounted on a slide frame inside the door. You will need a small ratchet and small sockets 1/4" or so in size to dismount the slide frame from the door, dismount the window from the slide frame. the elecrical connector will come off by hand. The slide frame may also need to come apart before you can remove it from the door. With the slide frame and motor out you can change the motor and reverse steps back together

i have the same exact problem. before i replaced the window motor the window would go down but would only go up a few inches. after i drove it for a while it would go up a few more inches until it was fully closed. i had gone and replaced the motor, put everything back together like the way that i had found it. tested the window motor and now the window will not go down at all. the other windows on the vehicle work fine. when i press the button up or down for the drivers side window i can hear the motor working but the window will not move at all. is there anything that i need to look for or that is wrong with my installation? i checked the fuses and they are fine as well. please help in anyway possible...... thank you!
