Hello sir,
Recently i did oil change for my car. The mechanic gave the below comment in the service log.

"Timing chain tensioner leaking oil"

When i asked him about this he said there is a minor leak. Do i need to fix it immediately? what will happen if not fixed. Also he gave estimate around 300 bucks.

I am worried whether it will cause any major service repair in the future. Currently my car is running good and no major problem i can notice.

He will simply change the gasket. Timing chains are enclosed so engine oil will lubricate chain.

If it is a minor leak, then it is not an emergency, but I would have it repaired as soon as you can.

Also check engine oil level more frequently, at least once a week.

While the gasket is not expensive, you must remove a lot of parts to get to chain cover, so $300 is reasonable.
