1999 Toyota Corolla 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive
----------------------------------------------------------------
My car started making a tuck, tuck, tuck kind of noise mainly when driving at low speed recently. Sometimes, there's no noise for days, but when it happens, it seems to come from driver side front.
I got it diagnosed from a dealer service shop, and the diagnosis was that the front wheel bearings are the most likely cause. Also, I was pointed to some cracks on the ends (ends in the middle and not the end near the wheels) of the control arms (front). To change the front control arms and bearings the quote is around $1500 including labor. Is this a reasonable estimate?
Also, on a separate quote for the weakend struts, the estimate is about $1800. The car's worth $4000 and I'm really confused as to what I should do. Pl help. Thanks.

Unless you can do the work yourself, you can shop around at local repair shops for a better price.

Some shops will install used parts, but the warranty is limited to replacement (additional labor) of the part.
