Hi ,
I encountered a strange situation today. I was driving my 1998 Toyota Corolla (manual transmission) and I stopped my car at the intersection which was upword slopy. The car was in the 3rd gear and I had my left foot pressed on the clutch and right foot on the break when I stopped the car. The traffic light turned to green quickly and I switched my right foot onto the accelerator. The engine made a big noise (since the car is in the 3rd grear). Nonetheless, it moved and gradually gained momentum. But, something had burnt in the process and I felt the strong smell of it. I still drove the car 7 miles to my destination and opened the hood to see what was burnt. I could not see anything but the smell was still there and it was like from a burnt rubber part.
My question is what could have possibly burnt and is there any cause of concern? What is the recommended course, if there is any concern?
