I recently took my car in for a winter maintenance check and the garage advised me that I should have the transmission fluid flushed and replaced in the car.
I took the car to my regular garage and the mechanic advises me against flushing the transmission fluid and replacing it with new fluid. He says that I will probably have problems with the transmission if I do this. He has mentioned something about metal shavings causing damage.
Who is right? Is there any reason to change the transmission fluid?
