1997 Toyota Corolla Gear Shift Light Not working

Hi,

I own a Toyota Corolla 1997 CE. Last night i noticed that the light on the gear shifter has gone out. As a result I am unable to see which gear the car is in,( though i can tell by the engine sound).

Is it possible that maybe just a bulb has gone out which I can replace myself or is it something bigger than that??

Yes it is possible that the light is out. You would have to remove the console and replace the bulb.
Your best bet is to buy a Haynes manual and follow the precedure for removing the console.
