If a clutch job is already being done, so the transmission is out, how much extra labor is involved in changing the left and right CV drive shafts?

What does it mean when the mechanic says "It pulled out of the knuckle", referring to why these shafts need to be replaced?

Hi there,

The drive shafts are already removed if the transmission is out of the car. What he is describing is the inner & outer portion of the joint has been dismantled, (they will just slide back in) so make sure that they are faulty and need replacing, and that no extra hrs are added as drive shafts must be removed prior to the transmission being taken out.

Hi BobBasura,

If only the CV joints are replaced, then a little extra time is justified, but not the whole driveshaft assy.
