Recently, I noticed that my 1995 Corolla has been slipping out of drive and into neutral on occasion. I am about to change the fluid and filter to see what happens, but I was hoping to see if you had any other ideas....

Thanks for your help in advance!

Hi there,

there is nothing else that you can do your self, next step is an auto specialist to investigate and report.

I would remove the console and see if the cable is securely anchored in the housing. Also check the cable where it attachs to the transmission to be sure the clip that holds it to the transmission is secure. I would also check the cable routing and make sure it is correctly inserted in all the routing clips.
Check the motor mounts also, make sure they are tight and observe the engine when revving it to see if there is unusual movement.

Otherwise take it to a transmission shop.

Thanks guys.... funny that you should mention the motor mount. I had replaced the right side 3 years ago when I bought the car due to an accident..... Looks like I will be spending a night underneath the hood!
