1995 Toyota Corolla Tail lights

All of a sudden my tail lights will not go off, noticed a burned out socket, replaced the harness,checked all fuses. The switch off and the the tail lights are on, on both side. For now I am unplugging them to save the battery when ever I stop for a long period.
