I'm now in the process of having to change the fuel tank for the 3rd time in 2 years.
First time, tank rusted out. Replaced it and 1 year later, the tank seams were leaking.
Now 1 year later yet again, there seems to be a pinhole that is leaking. Funny thing is the pinhole is above the exhaust system, where it'd be extremely hard for a road hazard to reach it. Moreover it stops leaking completely when I open the lid to the tank. Finally there is an audible and long whooshing sound when I unscrew the gas lid.
I was told that the fuel vent might be clogged thus preventing pressure from escaping and putting undo pressure on the tank. What is the likelihood of this? Where is the fuel vent located?
