My car started and when I went to pull it out of the garage, I had to press the acelerator to the floor just to get it to move forward. The parking brake was off and I had shifted it into drive. I drove out of the garage and about 30 feet and it got worse. The car is acting as if it is in neutral; at first it would reverse, but then only neutral, although the gear shift says otherwise. What could be the problem? My dad changed the oil yesterday and we installed new hood hinges after I had front end damage about 2 months ago. The car worked fine the last time it was driven into the garage, but we've been working on the hood problem and just tried to drive it today after it sat in garage for about 2 weeks. Any ideas on what the problem could be?

Either a trans problem (Convertor, govenor etc), or the differential has almost siezed because of lack of lubrication.

Could also be a siezed caliper, wheel cylinder, check those first.
