i need to know how to fix the cup holder in my corolla but have not been able to find a manual to do it.

They generally cannot be fixed. They are plastic and become brittle with age and break.

You will have to remove the dash trim to get to it, try Toyota and see if they have a new one or get a used one at a junk yard.
