1991 Toyota Corolla brake light/charging light

have both the brake light and the battery light coming on together. I had a problem with the ac and the technician said he found a wire grounded against the manifols and that he secured it and reapired it this got my ac working but now as soon as I left the shop the bake and battery light keep flashing. what is this?

It indicates the alt. is not putting out enough voltage. Check with multimeter with engine running, alt. output should be above 13.5V, if not remove alt. and have it bench tested at most autoparts stores for free, if it is ok, then the "wire" may be the problem.

I thought that also. just found it strange that it happened after he was under the hood

Take it back to mechanic and have him show you the wire in question.

the wire was for the ac

I put a meter and came up with 12 volts so i took it to a shop he said he got 13.5 with his tester battery has half of its life left and not to anything im still confused

tonight i stopped for gas shut car off had lights on 5 minutes latter wont start jumped it and when i got home i put meter on it and got 13.5-13.9 most of the time she would jump to around 12 for a second
with the car off batery read 12.9 and drains slowly but with the lights on even for a minute drops under 10 volts and wont start

Hook up a DVOM to the battery and start pulling fuses. When drain slows or drops you have found the circuit that is draining the battery.
