Engine Performance problem
1990 Toyota Corolla Front Wheel Drive Manual 95000 miles

I just got a 1990 toyota corolla gts from a friend and its been sitting at his garage for 1 year now. It was running on a old battery but i manage to get it back home and fixed the brake. It was running good pretty good when i brought it home but shortly afther i fixed the brake the car die on me. ( the car needed new brake pads and new rear break routers) so i thought it was the battery and brought it to autozone and they fully recharged it for me. But ten mins afther i put the batery back in it died on me once more so i bought a new battery instead. It worked about 20 mins but afther i turn the engine off i cant turn it back on anymore . I think it could be the alternator but it just got replace 6 months ago. so what could it be? Could there have been somthing draining the battery? please Help

Many autoparts stores can test for battery drains, Advance Auto Parts for one.

Have the charging system tested and have them check for drains.

I also would mention that a car that sits for a year without a fuel stabilzer in the fuel mostlikely has significant fuel varnish build up in the fuel system.
