Engine Mechanical problem
1989 Toyota Corolla 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Manual rebuil miles

I have a corolla 4age series 3 engine.I rebuild the complete engine and now at my intake cam there's a clapping sound. After research I found out its because the cam have insufficient oil.I replaced the oil pump since there isn't enough oil pressure(so somebody told me). The problem still persists. While the engine run I took off the intake cam cover and normally the oil would squirted out but this isn't the case only a small margin is squirted out.
ANY help would be appreciated because I'm hopeless after a whole year without my dear car.

Remove the oil pressure sender and measure oil pressure with mechanical gauge.
Normally on these engines removing the valve cover and starting the engine would result in oil all over the place.
If you are not getting oil to the cam caps, you take a good chance of ruining them.

I would also check the shim clearence.

But you most likely have a plugged oil galley, you can try a engine flush.

You may wind up having to remove head, and hot tank it.

The 4AGE is rare, most Corolla's came with the 4AFE or 4ALC.
