1989 Toyota Corolla Cooling fan is on constantly

coolant temp. sensor most likely fault but will want to retrieve the trouble code(s) stored to make sure

Jumper Te-1 to E-1 in the check connector to flash the code/s

There is a small white round connector under dist. in coolant block, this is fan switch.

Either fan switch is bad or relay is stuck. Check connection to fan switch.

Check fan relay's and "engine main" relay.

If I forgot to mention this motor has a carburetor

22 is for coolant temperature sensor
31 is for vacuum sensor
41 is for throttle position sensor

Hmm I dont see how 41 is TPS the motor has a carburetor.

So what do I need to do to get rid of these codes?

Disconnect the battery (-) for 5 minutes to erase codes, if they come back on, then further repair is necessary.

if they come back you have to change the sensor. its weird you have carburetor and it stores code 41.

It is also possible the ECM is bad, or that some 89's had FI but used a common ECM with a different PROM.
