1989 Toyota Corolla Cold Air Intake?

I was Thinking of Installing a K&N Cold Air Intake system, though I'm not sure to do so. So my question is; Is Installing a CAI in a Carburetor engine possible?, and or a good Investment? What are the pros and Cons? I've been trying to research this topic on my own, although many people vary in opinion. Some say its not possible -- that you need a Performance Carburetor, and others say yes -- etc etc. The Car is in Mint condition inside and out, btw.

Your professional Advice would be very much appreciated.

cold air intake? well id say you can.
its all about air coming into an engine its the same on a fuel injected as a carb it still needs air... although with a carb you dont have MAF sensor detecting tem and what not and telling the ecu what do mix it at.
Its all about air either way cold air is denser and there for burns better id say you could put a CAI on it if they make one for it or make your own as long as you have no open holes for dirty air to come in.
as for performance you may gain 1 mpg and maybe 5hp but i wouldnt hold my breath! id say try it and see what happens as long as what ever you do is reversable!

Well I actually found one made for my car: http://www.knfilters.com/search/product.aspx?Prod=57-0115 My main purpose for Installing one, is mainly for having the engine breath better. Sound, and a bit of Hp power gain are good an all, though those are not the purposes i had in mind. I appreciate your advice and tips, but I'm going to go to a Toyota service center and ask someone who specializes in Toyota vehicles to see if it would be a good idea. See what input they give me.
