so here's what happened. i came to realize i needed a new fuel pump. when i dropped the tank and removed the fuel pump i tested the pump to the battery. it worked, so i redid the wiring since it wasn't done so well. hooked up the pump assembly to the harness and it was all good. put it in the tank, tested it with it in the tank in my trunk. good. put the tank back up. no good. dropped tank again, tested with tank in trunk. no good. pulled pump assembly, tested good. i'm stumped. i'm thinking it's dead and only working sometimes but is there any other reasoning for that to happen? the pump assembly fits really tight into the tank by the way and it almost feels like i'm forcing it in.

You are either doing it wrong or you have the wrong pump, or a short in wiring.

Is this a FI car vs a carb?
