I left my lights on and battery died. So I tried to jump start it with my diesel suburban. Imediate melting and smoking wires so I dissconected. I put a fully charged battery in the car and now only the headlights come on. No ignition related functions are comeing on. I checked the fuses andf all seem good. Only ones I =can't check are those big round metal ones that say relay. What did I most likely break? What do I need to replace? Thank You, Matt

Hi Matt,

Thank you for the donation.

You have reversely connected the jumper cables and the first item that goes would be the main fuse/fusible link.

Data for this vehicle is not found in our database so I am not sure if your model is equipped with block or wire type fusible link.
If it is the block type, check the ALT fuse, should be at least 60 A.
If it is wire type, check the wire from battery positive terminal to the fuse box.

The relays have nothing to do with this.
