High pitch sound from power steering pump

Toyota Corolla 160i . High pitch sound from steering pump coming on and off. Fluid at right level. Does power steering pump have replacement parts?

Good morning,

The pump can be rebuilt but I would just replace it as you need to remove it anyway to service it.

The whining is from the pump where the gears are worn out. It needs to be replaced.

REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION

REMOVAL

1. Remove RH engine under cover.
Remove the 4 bolts and 2 screws.

2. Remove drive belt.
Loosen the drive belt tension by turning the drive belt tensioner arm clockwise, and remove the drive belt.
3. Disconnect suction hose.
Remove the clip and disconnect the hose.

NOTICE: Take care not to spill fluid on the drive belt.

4. Remove oil pressure switch.
a. Disconnect the connector.
b. Remove the switch, as shown in the illustration.

NOTICE:
- Be careful not to drop the switch.
- If the switch is dropped or strongly damaged, replace it with a new one.

5. Disconnect pressure feed tube.
Remove the union bolt and gasket.

6. Remove vane pump pulley.
Using Special Service Tool (SST) 09960-10010 (09962-01000, 09963-01000) or equivalent, to stop the pulley rotating, remove the nut.
7. Remove PS vane pump assembly.
Remove the 2 pump assembly set bolts and nuts.
