95 toyota celica 1.8 liter automatic transmission,138,00 miles
at various speeds right between slight acceleration and sllight deceleration there is a clunking noise which i cannot determine the cause, cv joints look good, wheel bearings seem solid. Left Front wheel bearing might have slight play in it. Noise seems to come more from transmission output shafts. Upon grabbing cv axles at output shaft location there is slight play in the solid shaft member not the cv joint.

Hey, I've been having a similar problem to what you described and I was wondering if you ever found out the cause / severity of it?

I'm driving a '95 celica with the 2.2 liter, automatic transmission.

The noise I have is more of a click, similar to a grandfather clock. It occurs when I press the gas with one click, and again with one click when I release the gas.

I haven't gone into the extensive detail of inspecting the underside of the car yet, but was wondering if you ever got any feedback on your issue?
