When accelerating between gear changes there's a whinig/whistle noise that has bee getting increasingly louder.

Hi there.
As you can imagine, trying to pinpoint a noise with out hearing it is rather hard. Is the noise there if you free rev the engine? is the a noise if you depress the clutch at road speed, with out reving? is the noise constant with engine speed or road speed? try and see if you can answer these and report back
