So about 2 years ago my 92 toyota celica just wouldn't start wouldn't turnover at all so I took it to the mechacnic and they determined it was the distributor.. got it fixed and the car ran great for about a year, then slowly once a month it wouldn't start.... I would pop the hood and give the wires connected to the ignitor a good shake and then the car would start.... then it started happening more often to now its everyday but now shaking the wires doesn't work I turn the key and hold it for about 15 seconds let go and repeat until it finally starts which take me about 2 mintues. My best guess is that the wiring is bad? But on top of that problem, when I come to a sudden stop the engine will sputter and most of the time stop.... if I come to the stop slow it runs fine... I have no clue what would be causing this.

Hi
Well the wireing may be shot. more specifically the ones you have been pulling on for a yesr.lol

the igniter is a common part failure in toyota. safe to say this one is bad.

why the car stalls when sudden stops are made. this could be a couple things it is possible the fuel pump is weak when you suddenly stop since the only seat belts are for occupants. you still have several things moveing GAS COOLANT OIL.so if your fluids are low there will be a brief pause in them when you stop.

manufactures have put several things on your car to protect it if it is low on oil stops engine.

Now your car being a little more mature don.t have all the safety features as the newer ones.

so summary is bad igniter keep full tank of fuel probs may go away
