1990 Toyota Celica turning radius problem

I had too much play in my sterring so I replaced my inner and outer tie-rods.. This did not fix it.. so I picked us a used rack... after disconeecting everything I found the u-joint connecting the sterring to the rack was bad.. so I just repaced that and put everything back... I noticed while turning left the turning radius is not very good, in fact way to short. I got the a 4-Wheel alignment but this did not correct the issue.... I discouncted the rack from the steering and reset the wheel after making severl rotations the opposit way hoping the issue was in the colum....It was fine before I stated fixing things... Any recommendations????

Hi there,
Bit of a mess your got your self into there. Now back to basics. Take the Tie rod ends off (not off the rack) Turn the steering full left, now count the turns to full right. I don't know how many turne it will be but if it is 2 1/2 turn back 1 1/4 this will give you near centre of the rack. You should always count the number of turnes the tie rods came off, if not, set wheels ahead ( as best as can by eye) Then see if Tie rod ends are able to drop in, this may give you an idea as to which tie rod end is to far in or out. adjust as best you can, then go get an alignmemt asap. Also make sure that the tie rod ends are the right ones for you car. Good luck.
