forgive me if this question is ridiculous, but could a hole a little smaller than a dime on the top of my coolant reservoir lead to overheating problems? I am not sure if it will drastically effect the pressure on the radiator system. The car overheated yesterday and I added more coolant, but I noticed spillage on the floor hours later when I went back to drive the car, but the reservoir was empty.

Recheck the coolant level-fill it,replace the radiator cap ,inspect the hose-replace the reservoir or patch it up. This don't work then its something Big. within the coolant system.
