A/C blows hot air?

The pressure with compressor not running is OK, it a normalized pressure. But if the high size is only 3-4 psi, the compressor is no good, or there is a blockage before the high side service port, it should read 150-200 psi.

The high pressure drops 3 to 4 psi from the 125psi mark. The pressure never reaches the 150 psi on the gauges. The pressure drops when the compressor is jumpered on which the pressure should increase instead of decreasing when jumpered on. The compressor has been replaced with a new pressure switch, compressor and the expansion valve has been replaced also. I would agree there must be a blockage but am having a hard time finding it. I have pulled the lines and blew through them and they appear to be ok with sufficent airflow through them. The condensor was replaced when the car was repaired. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

So the high side is 125? If yes add more freon, high side 150-200 depending on how hot is is out, and low side 35-45...

I have warm air blowing out of the two left vents and cold air blowing out of two right vents. This car does NOT have dual climate control!

It is most likely low on refrigerant. It requires a very precise charge so the only way to do it accurately is to have it completely recovered and recharged with the proper weight of refrigerant.If all good you may have a bad air mix servo control motor, see the diagram below for location. You can remove it and work the door manually to see if it solves the issue

At the beggining of the summer the ac stopped working, it would come on and off as you were going down the road(meaning it would get cold after driving for a little while SOMETIMES). Well we found out the ac hose had a leak in it. We fixed that and in doing so had to recover all of the freon in the car. (my husband has his license and does this all the time so we were able to do this at home.) After that the a/c was cold again, but it was only it's coldes in the back seat and on the right side of the car. Well we dealt with it this way for a few weeks maybe a month and then (knowing we didnt refill the car with enough freon) we added what we needed to to make it the correct amt that this car calls for. When we did that the clutch stopped spinning. We let some pressure out of the low side and the ac came back on. After that we just left it again and dealt with it like it was. Well then there was another small leak at the fitting on the high side because the o ring broke. When we went to fix it we tested the pressure added a little freon and it blew cold for a while. Well being dumb we added freon bc thats why we thought it was blowing hard or cold on teh left side of the car. THis caused the clutch to stop spinning, we let some pressure out of the high side it came on and now the a/c is hot. We finally realized or found out ot change the air filter and thats when it started blowing hard like it is suppose to, but the air is still not cold. As of right now we can put freon in, the cutch will engage and everythign seems to be working correctly but the air is hot and for some reason the pressure is hihg on the high side and low or none at all on the low side. I"m scared it's the compressor bc we always have that kind of luck, worse case senario kind of luck. Please help me figure this oout and I'll be forever thankful!

Contamination and/or moisture in system. Evacuate replace receiver dryer vacuum down 2hrs. then recharge

where is the receiver dryer?

On side of condensor Toyota calls it modulator assembly and cooler dryer inside . Note need to add 1oz oil

When I come to a stop, it doesn't work. Also when the weather is sunny it doesn't work, it blows hot air. But when the weather is cool (at night or early morning) it works.

Has anyone checked the Freon and the actual pressures?

you may be low on Freon or there may be something in the system not allowing cool air to be produced.

Did you check the pressures as I have suggested.?

The compressor is only a part of the whole system and is a very expensive guess. I do not like to guess as it is expensive and most of the time wrong.

Thanks, but my AC, when turned on, takes time to circulate. In fact it takes time to get to the back seat.

Okay, that is why I suggested getting the actual pressures. Can you do that?

You can rent a set of gauges at a parts store and read them.

The AC will sometimes work for a couple mins but then stops blowing cool air. When it starts doing the warm air, it will be stuck like that sometimes for a couple weeks. Occasionally I will try it and it will do cold air again for a few mins but then back to warm air again. I did have the Freon recharged last summer and it was cold again for one or two days but then went back to the same pattern as mentioned before. The AC light does not blink (like I have seen others describe) the AC light stays on. Any thoughts?

It sounds like you may be low in Freon again. there may be a leak in the system.

The way to tell is by pressure readings on the high and low side.

I had it checked and recharged last summer. Then it went back to the same problem. Even now though (although its still cooler temperatures outside) I will try the AC and it will come out cold for a minute or two, and then go back to warm. When the shop did the AC recharge last summer, on one phone call during the repair, they mentioned that they thought some part of the AC system was freezing up and they needed to wait for it to maybe thaw out before testing again.

Okay, that was last year.

You need to have it checked again to be sure you have proper pressures and proper amount of Freon.

Before you do anything, check your A/C magnetic clutch relay in the fuse box. Usually a small white cube in the box under the hood. It is less than $30.00 to buy a new one and pop it in. his fixed my intermittent A/C. On tearing relay apart, contacts were rough and carboned.

I would not assume anything until the part is confirmed bad.

My a/c over several days started blowing out warm air. I replaced the cabin filter, and now it blows fairly cool air out of the passenger side, but still blowing warm air from the driver's side. I requested the Toyota dealer give me a coolant charge, and he says he need to do a diagnostic test, that it must be an electrical problem...starting price $100. Does the Toyota often have an electrical problem related to the a/c unit? Should I just get a coolant system flush...what do you think?

have him perform the diagnostic i belive it is in the controls/blend doors not functioning and a cooling system flush wouldnt help it, but the flush will help increase the vehicles cooling capacity.

intermitent problem with air conditioner. It does not work everytime I turn on the a/c. It does turn on spontaneously when switched on and when it works, cold air blows and light turns on as expected. when not on, the fan works when turned on. Dealer has tried to change the clutch relay... problem still persists. Now they want to rewire the air conditioner to cost $350. Please help.... :(
