This weekend i drove to pheonix from los angeles. Everything was fine with the car. When i was driving back i noticed the car heating indicator was all the way to the top...in the red area indicating the car was overheating. The RPM was at 4000 which it never has been, it is always between 2 and 3 when driving. I immediately pulled over. I popped the hood and my brother checked all the fluids. There was no smoke at all. He said all the fluid looked good and the car did not seem hot at all. The fans all turned on even when idle. When i turned the car off the RPM needle went down to 2000 and not to zero which it always does. And the Heating needle when down to halfway. As soon as i started the car again, the heating needle went straight up to the highest level and the RPM needle went to 4000. My brother said the car was fine and that the indicators probably broke. I went to the nearest gas station and had another guy look at it. He was a truck mechanic but he agreed to look at the car. He also said the car seemed fine. No smoke or any sign of the car overheating. He said it must be a switch that faltered. I drove it all the way home...to LA and had no problem. But the indicators still said hot and 4 RPM. Could something be wrong with my car or is it just a faulty indicator problem? If its just an indicator problem will it be expensive to fix? Thank you.
