My steering wheel was shaking and there was some road noise coming from the front wheels. I thought it might be a balancing problem, defective tires or at worst the struts. The dealer diagnosed the problem as bad front bearings which they replaced at substantial cost ($800 parts and labor). They also charged and additional $50 for rotating and balancing the tires. The shaking of the wheel has stopped, but with hindsight and asking other more knowlegeable persons than myself, I feel that the bearing replacement was unnecessary and that the $50 rotating and balancing of the tires would have done job. Was I ripped off?

The noise that explain the bearing
and I would ve did the bearing 1st and then road test the car for inspection to discover that you still need the tires balanced
as for the $850 is a bit high but IM no dealer with a huge over head
