This past Friday my wife was on the home from work, when the heater stop blowing heat and only put out cool air. The temp. gauge then started to run to hot. She pulled over and turned off the heat and the gauge went back down. She proceeded home. she again turned the heat and it ran hot again. she called and we summized that it only ran hot when the heater was turned on. We immediately took it back to the dealership, because we had just had some work done to the seals and manifold the week before. They ran a series of test over the weekend to include a pressure test. I asked about the thermostat, electric fan cycle, fuses, radiator, temperature sensor and relay. They kind of blew me off with.. those could be factors.. but their diagnosis is that I need to replace the engine. This just doesn't sound right, because there was no forewarning problems before this happened. This doen't sound right to me. Would either of the previous repairs be contributing to this current issue? What should be done?

sounds like it was low on coolant. what repairs did they do? definitely get a second opinion. these engines last forever and are just about bulletproof.
